Amentum has an excellent opportunity for the new HR professional, or for the existing HR specialist looking to expand career experience into government contracting. Work will incorporate a broad range of HR activities in support of the HR Supervisor and large employee client base. Focus will include policy and regulation compliance, HRIS data accuracy, employee relations, HR support of government contract activity; onboarding/assimilation, policy interpretation, training, and general HR support. The position is based in the Tyson?s Corner area. Telework options may be considered.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Acts as an initial point of contact for employees and managers. Performs routine tasks related to the administration, execution, and tracking of human resource activities including but not limited to benefits; compensation; leave; productivity, recognition and morale; training and development; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; and occupational health and safety. Acts as a liaison between employees, leaders, and division/corporate departments including benefits and payroll.
  • Supports compliance efforts, including the communication and dissemination of company policies, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and mandatory trainings.
  • Support program HR and HRIS activities to including tasks related to contract bids and new award set-up; validating HRIS data accuracy; org chart alignment; option year Service Contract Act pay rate, wage, health & welfare changes; service bridge processing; vacation/leave info; and other key information. Identifying errors and makes corrections and/or surfaces with appropriate program leader.
  • Responds to employment-related questions from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Conducts appropriate follow-up and helps close out inquiries.
  • Support program and company initiatives. Track status and prepares reports for analysis and distribution on such activities. Helps identify best practices and makes recommendations to improve the employee/manager experience including new hire assimilation, training, and performance management.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Assists with interviews, documentation, and reports.
  • Develops knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • May be assigned own, smaller, client base, with oversight from HR Supervisor.
  • May be assigned special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience with government contracting and Service Contract Act/wage determinations very helpful.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze and problem-solve when faced with new questions or initiatives.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and direct to appropriate department when appropriate.
  • Must act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality with all levels of employees.
  • Ability work remotely and maintain daily contact with HR supervisor and employee client base.
  • Working knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations, and ability to research for updates and changes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization?s HRIS and talent management systems. Experience with Workday and Costpoint preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree required; Bachelor?s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • 2+ years related experience working with human resources principles, practices, and procedures preferred.
  • SHRM-CP/PHR a plus.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • May require US government clearance at the level of Public Trust.
  • The position is based out of PAE?s Tyson?s (Falls Church) headquarters building. Local travel (DC Metropolitan area) or occasional out-of-state travel may be a possibility.
  • Remote workers may be considered.
